Messy Church!!
We meet on the last Sunday morning of every month from 10 am until 12 noon.
MESSY CHURCH (Saturday) 24th July 2010
Our July Messy Church was on Saturday 24th July – same time just a different day! We had great fun as usual – this months theme was all about Holidays. We talked about how holidays are a time of rest and relaxation and spoke of how God rested on the Sabbath.
The weather was perfect which meant we were able to play some games outdoors for a change. Our first one was a Coconut Shy, with teams battling it out against each other for the most coconuts knocked down. It’s not as easy as it sounds either! Next up was a water relay race, we had to fill a cup with water and run to the end of the course to tip our water (or what was left of it!) into a bucket. The amount of water was measured at the end of the game and the winner was the team which had the most in their bucket.
We moved indoors for the next game – each player had to see how many marshmallows they could get in their mouth whilst saying the tongue twister - ‘She sells sea shells on the sea shore’ – no chewing was allowed! Hilarious and I’m not going to divulge who had the biggest mouth on that one!
Tim did a pop quiz – specially requested by the young people and our activity time involved making windmills and crabs. We also made our own pizzas from scratch which we ate at the end for lunch. For those who weren’t keen on pizza we had hot dogs and everyone finished the morning off with ice cream cornets.
The next Messy Church will be in September. The date to be announced shortly.
