NATIVITY 2009
Our Sunday School children, members of Inspire and our Messy Church kids joined forces to put on our annual Nativity Service on Sunday morning 20th December 2009.
They invited the congregation to investigate with them ‘The True Meaning of Christmas’.
During the service the people on each table in Church were asked to make their own individual Christmas craft from the instructions and materials laid out on their table.
The nine activities/crafts were: a stained glass bell picture, an angel, a Christmas candle table decoration, a painted glass tea light holder, a Father Christmas, a gift box, a Christmas wreath, 3D stars and a Christmas tree to assemble and decorate.
Everyone joined in these activities magnificently and were extremely proud of their finished products!
Father Christmas also paid us a visit during the service to explain what the morning was about and how each item we had made fitted into the Christmas season and even handed out Christmas Candy Canes to everyone.
We made a joyful noise with lots of carols – both traditional and a bit more modern! Inspire led us through some Christmas prayers and we finished the morning with the Christmas story being told whilst the children formed our Nativity tableau.
Following the service refreshments of mince pies, chocolate biscuits, tea and coffee were served and everyone enjoyed a chat together to round the morning off.
A big thank you to all the children and young people who took part, it was a fantastic service – much enjoyed by all, also thanks to Jenny and Tim, Suzanne for taking care of the refreshments and Stuart who made us a wonderful stable which everyone admired!
Our next Messy Church will be on Sunday 31st January 2010. We wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year in 2010.
I do hope you like the photos below.
