BBQ and Strawberry Tea July 2019

As I sit writing this report - outside the rain is falling steadily and the temperature has dropped dramatically!  It’s hard to believe that just a month ago on Saturday 13th July Messy Church celebrated its annual BBQ and Strawberry Tea afternoon in blazing sunshine and with a cloudless blue sky!

In all the years we have been hosting this event I think this was easily the busiest afternoon ever – so many people turned up we had to keep bringing out more and more tables and chairs to seat them – how wonderful is that?!  Lots of people from our Kingsfold congregation came to support us along with many of our Messy families.  It was also a pleasure to welcome new faces and families, giving them a taste of what Messy Church offers.  Everyone joined in a brilliant afternoon of fun, food and fellowship.

Ken and Mark worked like Trojans on the BBQ, serving over 100 burgers and sausages.  Rev Mark made a great waiter serving dozens of strawberry teas and the whole Messy Team were kept busy all afternoon brewing endless cups of tea, preparing the food and keeping everything running smoothly.  Nicky, our Youth and Families lay worker, entertained the children with sports and games – everyone pulled out all the stops to make the afternoon so thoroughly enjoyable.  Huge thanks go to everyone involved – it was a great team effort!  Special thanks go to Dorothy P for the home made scones - delicious – and to Peter and Gillian for donating the strawberries.

Messy Church did not meet in August - we think all the leaders deserved a well-earned break and a chance to recharge their batteries – but we will be back on Friday 27th September 6pm – 8pm.  Why not drop in and join us?
